The National Association of Chimney Sweeps
All appliances, whatever fuel they burn (coal, wood, oil and gas) need to be able to 'breathe' in and out.
Appliances can be dangerous
if they are not kept in good working order.
NACS strongly recommends that chimneys using the following fuels are cleaned:
All NACS members
are
fully insured
and
work to a
Code of Practice.
A Certificate
of
Chimney Sweeping
is issued
on
completion of work.

At least once a year
l Bitumous Coal
At least twice a year
l Wood
Quarterly (in use)
l Oil

Suitable access must be provided
for the cleaning and inspection of flues (i.e. soot doors and cleaning plates on flue pipes)
To comply with the current Building Regulations Approved Document J

Using a NACS Chimney Sweep Will:
Ventilation
 
IMPORTANT
Never interrupt
the air supply
by blocking
air vents
or air bricks.
Eliminate the build up of soot from
coal, wood, oil
and
gas fired
systems.
   
Always have your chimney
swept at least once a year.
Using a member of
The National Association of Chimney Sweeps
will ensure that the appropriate
Code of Practice
is followed
and a
Certificate of Sweeping
is issued.

Provide valuable advice on
operating
your appliance safely and efficiently and on any
remedial work.
